The SDJ to The BSDJ: What’s in the name?

We have an important announcement to share with all of you.

Our former name, 'The Student Doctor Journal', has officially been changed to 'The British Student Doctor Journal'.

As can often be the case, organisations may hold similar names, which was one issue we faced with 'The Student Doctor'. To establish a unique brand identity for the journal, we decided that a more specific name was required; hence the addition of British at the beginning of our journal name. Furthermore, whilst we welcome submissions to the journal irrespective of country or medical school, we maintain that the content must be relevant for British medical students. Therefore, our new name also highlights this aspect of our ethos.

Currently, we have changed many aspects of the journal website (our new website URL is www.bsdj.org.uk) and the journal platform, to reflect these changes. However, some areas remain uncovered, which will be addressed over the coming months. Our logo will also be updated in due course. We are excited for this new change and we do not anticipate any major disruptions to the usual system or workflow.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and support during this change.

We are currently accepting submissions to our second issue. The deadline for submissions is the 1st of May and the second issue will be published on the 30th of June 2017.

Best wishes,

Shivali Fulchand and James M. Kilgour
