Dr Lucy Harriss

Associate Editor

Lucy is a Resident Doctor (FY1) at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust. During her previous degree in Zoology at the University of Bristol, her final research project identified gaps in hypertension treatment guidelines for young adults, which sparked an interest in improving treatments for forgotten patient cohorts. At Barts, Lucy was awarded a Rod Flower Scholarship towards completing a summer research project at Barts Cancer Institute, which due to the pandemic, will now take place in Summer 2022. She will gain knowledge in oncolytic viral therapies for treating advanced cancers.

In this role, Lucy hopes to provide more opportunities for medical students to publish their research and educate others through writing - a skill she has developed as a freelance writer. Outside of medicine, Lucy is a keen hockey player and enjoys hiking in the great outdoors.
