Helena Brezovjakova

Helena is a medical student at Imperial College London currently carrying out an intercalated PhD in gene therapy at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. Her research focuses on development of gene-edited universal skin grafts to improve wound healing in patients with inherited skin disorders. Previously, she completed an intercalated BSc in Immunity and Infection at Imperial, achieving First Class Honours.


She is passionate about helping medical students get involved in research. In her role as President of the ICSM Society of Research and Academia, she has been working on collaborative projects with the Faculty of Medicine, encouraging students’ interest and engagement in research.
