Dr Rosemary Kirk

Senior Editor

Rosie is a third-year DPhil student at the University of Oxford where she is studying as a Rhodes Scholar. Her research focuses on developing gene therapies for inherited heart diseases using cellular disease models.

Prior to coming to Oxford, Rosie was working as a junior doctor in Australia, having completed her BMed/MD at the University of New South Wales in 2020 with the University Medal for finishing first in her class. During her studies she was involved in multiple student publications as an editor or peer reviewer.

Rosie ultimately aims to work as a clinician-scientist in the field of genetics, and is passionate about the creation and delivery of genetic medicine being ethical, equitable, and driven by patient need. She is a strong believer in the importance of clinician-scientists who can communicate to the public and between doctors and scientists to ensure this occurs. Rosie hopes that through working with the BSDJ she can encourage medical students and junior doctors to explore this interface and gain skills to engage with medical science throughout their careers.
