Nicholas Phillips

Senior Editor

Nick is currently completing his Medical Education iBSc at Cardiff University before returning to complete his final year of study in the main MBBCh programme 2023/24.

Throughout his time at medical school Nick has sought experience in publishing and editing. In 2022 Nick was awarded the position as one of the BMJ Clegg Scholars, a competitive international programme where successful scholars undergo an internship at the BMJ as part of the editorial team. From this he developed skills in critical appraisal, management, writing, editing, podcasting, social media management, and gained valuable insight into the functioning’s of a world-renowned publisher. From this experience Nick has published an array of articles including news, feature, and opinion pieces for both the BMJ and BMJ Student. In conjunction with previously acting as a Reflections Editor for the BSDJ, he hopes to bring a range of skills to support and work alongside the amazing team at the BSDJ.

Alongside publishing and editorial experience Nick takes keen interest in other responsibilities to refine his managerial skills. As Founder and previous President of the Cardiff University British Sign Language society and current President of the Cardiff University Dermatology society he is interested in supporting the wider student experience. Outside of medicine Nick takes a keen interest in travel, cooking, and contends with an ongoing infatuation for coffee!
