Anissa is a second-year medical student at the University of St Andrews with an interest in widening participation, diversity, medico-political issues, medical education and research. Her clinical interests include otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery, dermatology and oncology. She gained experience as a junior research assistant at the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the summer of 2022. Prior to her medical studies, she studied law and took up several internships in corporate banking and law firms.

As the president of the British Medical Association Society of St Andrews, she works to promote engagement and raise medical students’ awareness regarding medico-political affairs. Outside of
medicine, she enjoys golf, archery and solving puzzles.
